MSG Jonathan M. Phillips enlisted in the Army in 2005 out of Poteau, Oklahoma, and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a Calvary Scout (19D) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His assignments include: 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), Princeton University, New Jersey
MSG Phillips has served in a variety of duty positions to include: Automatic Rifleman, Machine Gunner, Team Leader, Section Leader, Operations Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, and currently a Military Science Instructor.
MSG Phillips deployed with 1st Squadron, 73rd Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 2006-2008, Operation Unified Response 2010, and Operation New Dawn (OND) 2011.
MSG Phillips’ military and civilian education includes the Warrior Leaders Course (WLC), the Advanced Leaders Course (ALC), the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy (USADSA), the Maneuver Senior Leaders Course (MSLC), and the Master Leaders Course (MLC). MSG Phillips is also a graduate of Airborne School, Squad Designated Marksman (SDM) course, Air Movement Operations course, Master Fitness Trainer (MFT) course, Air Assault School, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course. MSG Phillips is currently pursuing his Associates degree in Criminal Justice.
